Itinerary

Svalvogar Circle Supertruck Adventure From Ísafjörður Harbour to the end of the world and back — with bumps, beauty & belly laughs!

Departure: Ísafjörður Harbour – “Seatbelts & Smiles On!”

We kick off our adventure at the harbor in Ísafjörður, where the mountains stand tall, the fjord sparkles dramatically, and our supertruck waits patiently like an oversized Arctic taxi.

After a warm welcome (and possibly a safety briefing disguised as entertainment), we roll out in true Westfjords style — slow enough to admire the views, fast enough to feel like explorers.

🚻 Þingeyri – Civilization, Crucial Comfort Stop

Our first stop is the charming village of Þingeyri.

Here we stretch our legs, visit the facilities (a highly rated attraction on every successful tour), and enjoy a quick look at one of Iceland’s oldest trading villages, nestled beside the fjord Dýrafjörður.

Fun fact: In the Westfjords, the population count may be small, but the views are absolutely overachieving.

The Legendary F622 – “Where Roads Go to Prove Themselves”

Now the real adventure begins! We tackle the famous F622 Svalvogar trail — a road so exclusive it only allows high-clearance 4x4s (and drivers who had their coffee).

Expect:

  • Dramatic cliffside views
  • Fjords stretching endlessly into the horizon
  • Occasional sheep who believe they own the road
  • Guests saying “WOW” at least 27 times

This is one of Iceland’s most remote and breathtaking routes — the kind of scenery that makes your camera work overtime.

Abandoned Farms – Echoes of the Past

Along the way, we pass several abandoned farms — silent witnesses to a time when life here required resilience, creativity, and possibly a strong sense of humor.

Your guide will share stories of survival, folklore, and how people once thrived in places where today even Wi-Fi refuses to go.

Historic Stop: Hrafnseyri – Heroes & Homemade Cake

Next, we visit the historic farm Hrafnseyri, birthplace of Jón Sigurðsson, leader of Iceland’s independence movement.

Here we:

  • Explore the charming museum
  • Step inside traditional turf houses
  • Enjoy a well-deserved late lunch and coffee

History tastes better with homemade cake — that’s just science.

Hrafnseyrarheiði & Sandafell – Fjord Views That Steal the Show

We continue across the scenic heath road of Hrafnseyrarheiði, where the landscape opens wide into cinematic beauty.

Then — the grand finale — we climb to the top of Sandafell.

From here, the panoramic view over Dýrafjörður is simply unforgettable. Fjords, mountains, sky — all competing for your attention.

Warning: Side effects may include speechlessness and excessive photo-taking.

🏘️ Return to Ísafjörður

As we drive home, you may notice:

  • Big smiles
  • Memory cards full
  • A new appreciation for Iceland’s wild Westfjords
