Incredible Westfjords Adventure with Iceland Backcountry While on a cruise stop in Ísafjörður, we booked an excursion with Iceland Backcountry, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. We were a group of 8, ranging in age from 13 to 70, and this tour was perfect for all of us. Gundumur, our guide, picked us up right outside the cruise port and immediately made us feel welcome.He was so knowledgeable and engaging—we learned a lot about the area, its history, and its rugged beauty. One of the highlights was visiting the breathtaking Dynjandi Waterfall, which was even more spectacular in person than we could have imagined.From there, Gundumur took us deep into the backcountry, navigating the high, narrow, winding roads of the Westfjord Highlands in a SuperTruck—an adventure in itself! To top it off, he drove us up a mountain where we were treated to a truly magical view that left us speechless.The combination of thrilling backcountry driving, stunning scenery, and Gundumur’s warm personality made this an unforgettable excursion. A Great Waterfall and Mountain Experience! Our trip to the waterfall was amazing! Our guide had a lot of information about the area and the size of our small group was perfect. This tour takes you to the waterfall and then for another adventure with some amazing views and a fun ride! I would highly recommend this tour! Fantastic tour!!! We had an incredible experience. We had no tours booked, decided we would like to see the falls, so started looking at the local providers. Stoped and had a chat with Gudnundur, who was standing in front of his súper truck. After a nice chat, we decided to book. Best decision ever!The vehicle is impressive! It was very clean, comfortable and he was a very good driver and Knowledgeable guide. We did the falls, an historique farm, a village, but the best part of the tour was when we went off-roading and climbed to the top of a local mountain. What a view!!! Worth every penny!The tour was approx 5 hours, and he guaranteed that we would be back before all on board time. I would encourage you to book with them directly. An awesome way to see the Icelandic backcountry An incredible day of exploring the Svlavogar Circle. The perfect way to see the Icelandic backcountry. The views were breathtaking and the drive was exhilarating. We were able to get to places no busses could ever dream of. The truck was very comfortable for the 4 of us in our group. Great of both traditional and off road fun tour. Had a great time touring the area with a guide full of information and stories to tell. Starts out in a traditional way with plenty of time at the waterfall to explore and enjoy its beauty. After a lovely stop at the birth home area of their hero for coffee and treats we took off op the mountain for a fun sort of off road experience to the top of the mountain. Incredible views!! An exhilarating experience One of the most exciting and exhilarating experiences I have had. It was so thrilling to go off track and cross the mountains. Our guide was very skilled, attentive and knowledgeable. The waterfall was great to see and the views from the mountain top when off country were spectacular. I highly recommend this tour.
